NCPA for SLES 11 SP4 shows service status incorrectly

Hi All,

I installed the latest version NCPA agent for SLES 11(ncpa-2.2.1-1 or ncpa-2.2.1.sle11.x86_64.rpm) on several of our SLES 11 SP4 servers. I was able to start ncpa_listener daemon without any errors, and I was able to use the agent to monitor CPU, memory, swap, and disk space utilization without any problems. The problem I am facing is the agent can't detect the service status on the NCPA client host correctly. For example, when I tried to select SuSEfirewall2_init, SuSEfirewall2_setup, or ntp services to set up monitoring, nagios xi configuration wizard shows the status of these services is "stopped". But I logged into the NCPA client host to check the status of these servers, the status is running:

# service SuSEfirewall2_init status
Checking the status of SuSEfirewall2 running

# service SuSEfirewall2_setup status
Checking the status of SuSEfirewall2 running

# service ntp status
hecking for network time protocol daemon (NTPD): running

I also tried different versions such as ncpa-2.1.5 on multiple servers. They all had the same problem.

Thanks!

Welcome to the forum, and thanks for bringing this to our attention! We have been able to replicate the issue you are running in to. We were able to get the service status working properly using NCPA version 2.1.1, so if you need a version that works for now, NCPA 2.1.1 is the version you're looking for. For now, we have a bug filed for this issue, and we will hope to see it resolved soon.
