Shiny new Exchange Wizard... not working!

Just upgraded to Nagios XI 5.7. Let's give a try to that new wizard for Exchange (2016 in my case)...

All 3 counters it checks are wrong!

1) windowscounters/MSExchangeTransport Queues(_Total)/Messages Queued for Delivery Total

isn't right... maybe try:

windowscounters/MSExchangeTransport Queues(_Total)/Messages Queued for Delivery

2) SMTP Server(_Total)/Messages Pending Routing

doesn't exist

3) SMTP Server(_Total)/Remote Queue Length

doesn't exist

(SMTP Server root doesn't exist on my Exchange 2016 boxes)

Both counters exist on our test box. See the image below - I highlighted the one that you say it isn't right:

Can you tell us why do you think we should be using one over the other?

At the bottom of the Step 2 on the Exchange wizard page, there are 3 Exchange Metrics, that you can choose (in case they are present on your system). They are all unchecked, by default. I may be wrong, but I think that most likely you selected them, which caused the issue.

it reports ALL THE ROUTED messages, not the ACTUAL queue lenght. Considering the warning and critical limits you set on the wizard for this service (and also the base logic of monitoring), you want to check the actual queue, right?

2 and 3) I'm running an Exchange 2016 wizard and it let me choose to monitor these 2 non existent counters. And honeslty, the wizard isn't making any difference from 5.5 to 2019.

A simple areding will provide anyone of the info they need to make a decent monitoring plan (and also a wizard to do that). 2016 and 2019 seem to have the same logic.

Our developers said that they are going to be working on the wizard, trying to address the issues you reported. I don't have an ETA on when the task would be completed, but it should show up in the changelog (when done).
