Text only on some notifications?

Hello,

Is there a way to easily set up some service alerts to be be text only? I see in Notification Preferences I can set what I want to get emails or texts on globally but I would like to be able to select text or email for notification on a service by service basis.

I originally thought that I could do the following but it didn't seem to work:

1. Create a second user account for myself and set that account to SMS only after verifying the cell number.
2. Create a new Contact Group and add the second account just created to it.
3. Edit the service and choose the new contact group just created to be notified.

I know that I can set SMS alerts for critical only but there are some critical notifications are not important enough to wake me up during the night.

Thanks for any help.

Mike

That process is what you would need to do, it should work given that setup. You would just add the user_sms contact to all services you want SMS on.

If you still have it setup, please PM me a copy of your profile and we'll take a look, you can download it from Admin > System Profile > Download Profile button.

Did the contact you added have an associate user in Admin > Manage Users? If not, you likely need to setup relaying so the backend knows where to send it to. What OS/version are you running?

Code: Select all

uname -a
cat /etc/*release
Include a screenshot of Admin > Email Settings as well.

I'll set it back up again and test one more time then come back to you with my results.
