How to restart Nagios XI VM?

Some things with Nagios seem harder than one would expect.
After doing a few first steps yesterday I had suspended the Nagios XI VM (which I had created from the nagiosxi-5.7.2-64.ova using VMware Workstation on Windows 10).
When I resumed the VM today I had to learn that it seems "dead". I got no reaction whatsoever from the webserver.
So I nilly-willy rebootet the VM (actually several times by now) but when I login as root/nagiosxi at the console prompt it always greets me with "Access Nagios XI as http://[]", i.e. for some reason it doesn't seem to get an IP address (or fails to re-initialize its networking).
How do I get this beast reacting again?
Or should I simply start over from the .ova file?
