Dear forum!

Actually this is kind of my first question here although we're using NagiosXI for quite some time...
I am running NagiosXI on CentOS7 monitoring many hardware and software\system resources.

I have google a lot and didn't find a solid clear answer to my query:
I'd like to enhance my status dashboard so our Tier1 engineers would have a more wider\detailed picture of our environment health status.
This is why i thought to try and connect\send our NagiosXI data to an external visualisation collector like Grafana and then i'd be able to also create custom dashboards for IT or Network Tier1 support engineers.
From all i could find - all topics are describing how to integrate Garana with PNP4Nagios but this only applied for Nagios Core and not NagiosXI.

Does anyone have a working and supported solution after previous experience connecting NagiosXI metrics data to Grafana and display it on Dashboard?
Pointing me to installation and configuration links to achieve this will be very useful.

Hi,

The good news here is that Nagios XI is running Nagios Core and PNP4Nagios under the hood, so these tutorials will most likely work. That said, we currently do not offer an official integration component with Grafana, so you'll have to use the community tutorials to set this up such as the following from CentLinux.

I already saw this article.
But just to make sure - following and applying these instructions will not affect any of our NagiosXI functionality ? Is there any risk here?
Will it just add an ability to open Grafana dashboard and in addition to NagiosXI dashboards - i will also be able to create other dashboards in Grafana ?

Hi,

Looking over the setup guide the instructions call for installing Grafana on a new server and then setting up PNP to send out data. I would not try to install Grafana on the XI system. It's best to not to install any other software on the XI instance to avoid package conflicts.

On the Nagios XI side, you'll need to modify the Apache configuration, so be sure to make a backup copy before changing the settings.

Not an expert in Grafana, so I can't really provide much guidance on its features, dashboards ..etc, but hopefully, that helps answer some of your questions, let me know if you have any more.
