I have upgraded CentOS Machine to release 6.10(Final) and directly after that I updated Nagios XI to 5.7.3.
Now I get large root mails every 5 minutes. like:

2020-09-09 04:20:02: WARNING: Expected a number but got 'noSuchInstance'
2020-09-09 04:20:02: WARNING: Expected a number but got 'noSuchInstance'
2020-09-09 04:20:02: WARNING: Expected a number but got 'noSuchInstance'
2020-09-09 04:20:02: WARNING: Expected a number but got 'noSuchInstance'
2020-09-09 04:20:06: ERROR: Target[XX.XX.XX.XX_XXX][_IN_] ' $target->[43]{$mode} ' did not eval into defined data
2020-09-09 04:20:06: ERROR: Target[XX.XX.XX.XX_XXX][_OUT_] ' $target->[43]{$mode} ' did not eval into defined data
2020-09-09 04:20:06: ERROR: Target[XX.XX.XX.XX_XXX][_IN_] ' $target->[44]{$mode} ' did not eval into defined data
2020-09-09 04:20:06: ERROR: Target[XX.XX.XX.XX_XXX][_OUT_] ' $target->[44]{$mode} ' did not eval into defined data
2020-09-09 04:20:06: ERROR: Target[XX.XX.XX.XX_XXX][_IN_] ' $target->[45]{$mode} ' did not eval into defined data

I'm quite sure its related to any of those Updates but which and how can it be cured?

Hi,

Besides those messages, is the system running properly since the upgrade, checks results, and performance graphs working properly?

This issue is similar to the following support case and these messages can be cleared by editing /etc/cron.d/mrtg.

/var/spool/mail/root

Hi Benjamin,

as far as I can judge the System is working properly. It makes all the right noises.

I have altered the Cronjob and now I don't get more of these msg in the root-mail.
Can you elaborate shortly on what happened there? What were those msg's about?

Hi,

The cron job is generating some errors when it runs. I think what is happening here is with the MRTG configuration, it's trying to query some devices that have been deleted.
