Nagios question.

I've been learning Nagios for like... 24 hours now, or close to that anyway. I have it up and running on my home server, and NRPE monitoring a remote server I rent. I set this all up today with, shockingly almost NO errors.
When I set it up I had NRPE run check_users, check_load, and check_xvda (custom hard drive partition check I defined). All of those worked great. I celebrated, then left work, came home and had dinner.
Now, logging back in I want to add check_http and check_ssh, and all of a sudden, those 2 say
NRPE: Command 'check_http' not defined. NRPE: Command 'check_ssh' not defined.
I added the command definitions in my /etc/objects/servers/hostname.cfg right under the 3 that work... and check_http and check_ssh are defined by default in the remote host and local host config files...
So, wtf? I'm also not seeing any errors... anywhere other than the web ui for my nagios here at home that is. I have refollowed all of the steps in the how-tos I used earlier today and I can't seem to find anything that is different than the 3 checks that work, and have no idea where to go now with troubleshooting.
