Host and Service check Latency after upgrade from 5.6 to 5.7

Hello Nagios Support -
I recently upgraded an XI server from 5.6.14 to 5.7.3. I noticed rather quickly that the system is more susceptible to Host Check Latency and Service Check Latency. I've run into problems with Host/Service Latency in the distance past on long lost versions of XI - so I am monitoring and graphing this data on our XI servers to make sure the wheels stay greased.
I've attached a screenshot of the performance graph.
- Server was upgraded to 5.7.3 on September 21st, and 12:00.
- Server was rolled-back to 5.6.14 today at 12:00, using a backup.
You'll notice the large spikes up in Latency recorded, but there is even a baseline change where it seems a bit "noisier".
I understand NDOutils was updated in 5.7, and ndo2db was dropped. I worry that the performance issues are from this.
Is there any tuning I should consider, or is there any system info you would like know?
XI 5.7.3 on Centos 7.8.2003 - Latest updates and patches as of today.
955 Hosts - 6,378 Services.
Using large installation tweaks.
