Nagios XI server CPU increasing

Hi,
NagiosXI server CPU consumption climbed from 20% to 90% since 26/09/2020 (see the graph attached)
I applied the attached procedure (given by the nagiosxi support on a previous CPU problem) = no success
Restart server = no success
Could you please help me ?

Hi,
Do you recall making any changes since that time to the server? If the system were to have a corrupted database, that would certainly cause the CPU to spike. Let's go ahead and run the database repair script, and let me know if the CPU load decreases.

Hi,
I ran repair_databases a few days ago because there was an error in NAgiosXI and it asked me to do it.
I ran it one more time today.
I don't remember having make changes recently.

Hi,
Since running the repair did you notice any improvement? The load stats on the top command look pretty good.

I think you may have a DNS issue here.

httpd: Could not reliably determine the server's fully qualified domain name, using nagiosxi.cg.ahp for ServerName
Talk to your network admin or try setting the Program URL to the IP address instead of using the FQDN. Go to
Admin > System Settings > General Program Settings > Program URL to change this.
Alternatively, you could try to add the FQDN to your /etc/hosts file and set the server name in the Apache configuration file. See the links below.
Let me know if that resolves the issue.

Hi,

=> I don't understand how that setting could suddenly impact the CPU whereas there was no problem from now.
Anyway I made the change : changing dns to ip address in Program URL:, but that doesn't solve my problem
I would like to see the configuration changes I made on a particular date : how can I do that ?

I would start by checking the Audit Log. Go to Admin > System Information > Audit Log.
The other item to check here would be the older Postgres database. I noticed most of the highest CPU consuming processes in the top command are from the postmaster. Try running the vacuum command on this database.

Good news : since I applied the above change this morning, the CPU consumption decreased to a "normal level".
I suggest to wait a week to check if the problem is really resolved
