How to change community string in configuration file?

Hi,
I added interface status and router services by using monitoring wizard(router/switch). In the process of onboarding, I filled in the community string(public).
If community string changes in our router, how do we replace it in NagiosXI?
Thank you,
Austin

Hi Austin,
You can use view the "community string" from the service management page.
Configure > core-config-manager > Services > select "Port 1 - status"
service-with-community-string-listed.png
You can manually change each "port-#-status" from there .... or use the "Bulk Modifications Tool".
Configure > core-config-manager > Bulk Modifications Tool > select "Change Command and Arguments"
Leave "Check command" box blank since we only want to change just one "$ARG1$" argument.
update changes to ARG1.png
Select your (switch/router) "Host" and all "Port-# Status" (see below picture) ... then click "Save Changes"

Hope this helps!!

Hi Austin,
My teammate has just mentioned that the best way to change your community string is for you to re-run the wizard again.
My previous suggestion might not update the "community string" correctly in the mrtg config file.
Nagios XI GUI > Configure > Configure Wizards > Select "Network Switch / Router" wizard.

Thanks for your reply.
Will monitoring data of the router be lost if we rerun the wizard?
Thanks,
Austin
