Upgrade XI from previous level

Posted: Tue Dec 29, 2020 9:30 am
Hello everyone,

A customer of ours wants to upgrade from XI 5.5.8 directly to XI 5.7.5.
Is this possible without upgrading first to 5.6.X in other words, does anyone know what the minimum level is one can directly upgrade to the latest version of XI?

Kind regards,
Fred Lopulalan

Yes, you should be able to upgrade from the 5.5.x release to 5.7. That said, I would suggest holding off until the 5.8 release which we're expecting soon. If you do go to the 5.7.5 release, you may see some odd behavior with dashboard not reflecting proper status of hosts/service - in which case see https://support.nagios.com/forum/viewto ... o&start=10 for the latest patch and steps to apply it.

Hi,

Thanks for your reply.
Ok, so you don't have to upgrade first to 5.6.X and then to the latest level.
XI 5.8 will be released in Q1? I presume these latest patches will be implemented in 5.8?
In that case I willl suggest to wait for the new release.

Yes, the latest patches will be in 5.8 and we're expecting it to be released early next year.

In addition to what @cdienger posted:

What OS/version is your current system running?

Code: Select all

uname -a
cat /etc/*release*
If you're running EL6 you will need to migrate to EL7 to upgrade to the latest now that EL6 is end of life.

If you're on EL7/EL8/Debian/Ubuntu you can upgrade directly to the latest without any intermediate upgrades.
