Upgrading NRPE v3.2.1 to 4.0.3 HELP

Hi all,
I have been scouring the internet trying to find information to update the NRPE install I have on a raspberry pi from v.2.1 to 4.0.3. I have tried following a few guides, including installing 4.0.3 from source and while NRPE runs, when I do a check from the server, I always get NRPE v3.2.1
as the result.
I appreciate some help on getting this version updated.
