Cisco 3850 interfaces that are down listed as critical

Hello Team,
We are testing Nagios XI and considering moving over from Solarwinds Orion as a monitoring solution. One issue I'm encountering is when monitoring Cisco 3850 switches, interfaces which are down or don't have any devices connected, are listed as critical problems on the Home Dashboard under "Service Status Summary".
Since this will be a normal condition for many access switchports (as well these ports may be going up/down multiple times during the day) is there a way to exclude certain ports from being listed as critical when they are in a down state?
Thanks!
