NagiosXI slow graph paint start after reboot

Post by junkertf »

Hello Support,

Our NagiosXi system (version 5.6.8 on RHEL7) has a bit large size of checks (cca 30k) and we experiencing almost a 30 minutes of time without the graphs being showed after a reboot/OS upgrade. Also a new graph and the existing ones updating itself at 15 minutes of time.

Is there a possibility to update the graphs more frequently and whats are the key steps to have a faster graph painting after an os reboot?
Think I right, that the first steps would be offloading the checks with Mod-gearman, and the second one is upgrade to the latest 5.8.1 version?

Thank you, best regards,

Ferenc

Hi Ferenc,

It sounds like the graphs are starting to spool up. The first step would be to increase the defaults on the performance graph daemon to give it more time and memory. The steps are outlined in the knowledgebase article below.

Nagios XI - Performance Graph Problems

After increasing the defaults, let us know if you notice an improvement. I would start by increasing the load threshold to 50 or 60. NPCD will take as much memory as you give it, so a really large value here will cause other issues.

Best Regards,
Benjamin
