Sending SMS messages via an SMPP server

Posted: Wed Feb 24, 2021 9:29 am
Hi all,

Is anyone familiar using an smpp server to sent notifications via sms?
A connection to the internet is not available, so we want to sent out a sms text message for notifications.
I've added the provider in the list of Mobile Carriers, but this doesn't seem to work in The Netherlands (kpn.com)
We do have however the possiblity to use an smpp server to sent text messages out, from cm.com.
Looking for information on exchange.nagios.org most plugins are specifically made for SMS Gateways, such as Clockwork or SMSEagle.

Does anyone know how to integrate an smpp server into Nagios to sent notifications?

Regards,
Fred

Hi Fred,

Wish I had a better answer for you, but I haven't come across this setup yet. I did some research and found a few discussions but I'm not able to locate an integration already developed for this. This would likely take some custom work to get up and running. I can submit a feature request if you'd like.

Hi Benjamin,

Thanks for your response!
I don't know if it is worth the effort when there are only limited request for this feature.
It is however very usefull for some production environments which have very limited access to the outside world.
I'll leave it up to you guys if it's worth while to spent time on it.

But my question has been answered, Benjamin.
I couldn't find either much information about this topic.

Regards,
Fred
