new Installation failed

Hi,
All pre-requisites are done but the installations fails, can you check the install.log please
repo.nagios.com/nagios/8/nagios-repo-8-1.el8.noarch.rpm
yum install epel-release -y

There's a permissions error in the install log, which would normally happen when you try to install a package when you're not root.
However, our installer checks to make sure you're root before proceeding, so something else may be happening.
Can you post the output of:
id
ls -l /var/lib/rpm/.rpm.lock
sestatus
This is a freshly-installed RHEL8 machine, yes? No additional stuff installed, such as third-party security software that might block RPM or Yum installs?
Let us know what you find, and we'll go from there.

In order to install Nagios XI, you will need to be logged in as root. You can do this by either SSH-ing in as root, or by running

There's a space in the command you ran, i.e. "ls -l /var/lib/rpm/ .rpm.lock" instead of "ls -l /var/lib/rpm/.rpm.lock".
Can you run this command?

Hi,
The latest released is now "Nagios XI 5.8.3" and your system is "RedHatEnterpriseServer 8.3".
If your system is a VM and you can revert back to a clean VM from a snapshot, that would be great.
That way, we can start fresh since the last time you tried this was for "Nagios XI 5.8.1" and we want to install from a clean VM for this "5.8.3" release.
Please login as "root" to do these steps below.
Please make sure that "/tmp" do have "exec" permission for the installation to complete successfully.
To mount "exec" for "/tmp", please do:
(NOTE: do this if you have "/tmp" filesystem mounted. You can check if you have "/tmp" mount point by using the "df -k" command)
Please run the below command to setup the yum repo for Nagios:

rpm -Uvh https://repo.nagios.com/nagios/8/nagios-repo-8-1.el8.noarch.rpm
Pre-requisites for Nagios XI:
IF you are installing on
RHEL 8 you will need to add the following:

subscription-manager repos --enable codeready-builder-for-rhel-8-x86_64-rpms

Hi,
Can you please start over with a "clean" VM? ....
You can ask your IT (Unix Admin) to revert back to the original (fresh installed) VM.
The above step will only take about 5 minutes.
The reason I asked you to start over because during March, you installed version "5.8.1", now the latest released version is '5.8.3". So there are conflicts with your old package under "/tmp/nagiosxi" folder, which will cause the install to fail.
Once you have a clean VM, then follow the step below in this page:

Here are the steps from the URL above you must perform:
1)- Installation of Nagios Repo
Code: Select all
rpm -Uvh https://repo.nagios.com/nagios/8/nagios-repo-8-1.el8.noarch.rpm
yum update
Code: Select all
yum -y install https://dl.fedoraproject.org/pub/epel/epel-release-latest-8.noarch.rpm
subscription-manager repos --enable codeready-builder-for-rhel-8-x86_64-rpms
I listed three choices, but I would pick the 1st or 2nd.
If 1st or 2nd failed, then I would try the 3rd steps.

cd /tmp
