Update Nagiosxi to 2011R3.1 and now i can not add or delete hosts to the database
Asked by: albibalu
Updated Nagiosxi to Version 2011R3.1 and now i can not add or delete hosts to the database.
I can see all the hosts and the services in /usr/local/nagios/etc/hosts (services)
and the monitoring of all the hosts are OK.
But when i add a host (with his services) all is in the two directories but in the view i can not see the host.
And when i delete a host it is deleted in the directory but not in the view.

What can i do??? or what went wrong?

Lets start by rebooting the server to make sure everything gets a clean shutdown and start up again.

Once that is completed, what results do you get when you attempt to Apply Configuration?

After restarting the services nothing happen, then i restart the machine and it is all the same.
That mean i can delete a host and he is still in the view, when i add a new one i can not see it in the view.
Also when i add a user he is visible in the user view but when i log in with this user in the Web GUI of NagiosXI he don't
let me log in. In /usr/local/nagiosxi/etc/htpasswd.users the user is not added like before the update.

Thank you if you could help in this matter. :D

After Restart the machine and adding an host he accept the configuration of this host but in the view of NagiosXI i can not see this host and his services.
And when i try to delete a host i configured before the Upgrade i can not delete this host. ( i delete the services related to this host first and then the host) when i go to search the deleted host he is not anymore in the search but he continue to be visible in the view.
The same happen with users. I add an user and i can see the user in the interface with all his data like the others before the Upgrade, but when i like to login with this user the interface say that the user is not known. Looking in the htpasswd.users this user is not in it.

Regards

What is the OS/distro that Nagios XI is installed on (RHEL, CentOS, 32 or 64 bit)?

Try running the Write Config Tool - click on all 4 "Go" buttons and see if you can find any config errors.

To learn how to use the Write Config Tool, read this document.

System is installed on a Cent OS 5.8 32 bit.

I did what you say in your post with the following result:

Nagios Core Configuration Export
Write monitoring data

Write additional data

Check configuration files:

Restart Nagios:

Warning, always check the configuration files before restarting Nagios!

Write host configurations ...
Configuration file successfully written!

Write service configurations ...
Configuration file successfully written!

Write hostgroups.cfg ...
Configuration file successfully written!
Write servicegroups.cfg ...
Configuration file successfully written!
Write hosttemplates.cfg ...
Configuration file successfully written!
Write servicetemplates.cfg ...
Configuration file successfully written!

After this no change. Still the Nagiosxi view is not updated and the deleted host are still there and if i configure a new one it is not seen in the view.

This is the output that you received after clicking on the first "Go" button. Did you go through all 4 "Go" buttons? Where is the output of the rest of them?

I will add a attachment to show the output of the bottons 2 and 3 Botton 4 tells me only that the restart Nagios Command has been
executed successfully.

You don't have any config errors, so this is not your issue. Try following the steps outlined on our wiki page here.

Let me know if this helped.
