Dual purpose NCPA Check Disk Service Checks

Greetings...
I want to gain feedback and suggestions in terms of the use case below. All feedback here is appreciated. Thanks!

We have a use cases where our current NCPA check disk space on our Windows servers needs to first, check on %used and then based on a WARNING or CRITICAL, then proceed to check if the amount of free space is a certain size. We currently have baseline service templates that performs the %used in definitions as 20%, 10% and then 5%. Also, if we just change to use only the free space, we would need to have individuals host's service checks on a per server basis and we would like to not customize a lot of hosts. With that said, how has the community solved this issue?

EX: Currently, we have many cases where we fall into 5% utilization but still have many GB free and technically, no need to be alerted.

Any better approaches here?

Hi,

Was just wondering - what are the percentage checks buying you?

It seems like you really want to know when you have < 5 GB left ? Would you be better off having
checks of say 5GB, 10GB, 20GB remaining for the different machines much like you have 20%, 10% and then 5% now?

If not take a look at these:

Thanks

I do agree that the %utilized isn't the best approach here but when we migrated the Windows servers into XI from What's Up Gold, the use of those general service check size templates made the task a bit easier. I think the core concern for the Windows Admins. come down to having many various values being defined among the disk/server roles. The WUG had basically two service checks and I'm still reluctant to do two per disk in XI. Let me review the links and speak more to the windows team and see if we can't take a new approach from the KBs or possibly go down the customize check path. Stay tuned. Thanks for the help so far...
