Dual purpose NCPA Check Disk Service Checks

Greetings...
I want to gain feedback and suggestions in terms of the use case below. All feedback here is appreciated. Thanks!
We have a use cases where our current NCPA check disk space on our Windows servers needs to first, check on %used and then based on a WARNING or CRITICAL, then proceed to check if the amount of free space is a certain size. We currently have baseline service templates that performs the %used in definitions as 20%, 10% and then 5%. Also, if we just change to use only the free space, we would need to have individuals host's service checks on a per server basis and we would like to not customize a lot of hosts. With that said, how has the community solved this issue?
EX: Currently, we have many cases where we fall into 5% utilization but still have many GB free and technically, no need to be alerted.
Any better approaches here?
