Tactical Overview and Passive Checks

Dear all,
I generally use the Tactical Overview as main page.
Many hosts are able to send traps to Nagios to report the alarms and the resolution.
My TRAP service could be a passive check, but I have to set an active check, otherwise the tactical overview shows red messages in the Active checks:
The active check is a simple ping to the host, scheduled every 4320 minutes (3 days). I'd like to disable the active check but obtain a "full-green" Tactical Overview.
