Where do you make changes to how long Nagios retains performance data?

Which performance data did you have in mind? Nagios core doesn't retain the performance data returned by plugins. For that you need one of the many addons available - arguably the favoured one (which I use) is PNP4Nagios http://www.pnp4nagios.org/
