Hi,

I want to know if anyone out there has tried monitoring APC smart UPS 3000 RM.

I have one APC UPS which is directly connected to a windows 2003 server via serial cable in my office and our NagiosXI is located in ISP datacenter.

I understand that direct checks to UPS is not possible since it is not connected to network. I've installed power chute agent and server on that windows server and i can check / notified UPS status with that application. I'm assuming that there should be some windows NRPE plugin that can talk to APC power chute service, check the status (Battery, Temp, Load, etc) and return the results back to Nagios server.

I can work without the XI Wizard . I just need to know if there is some plugin available for monitoring APC UPS (which works!!!) or if SNMP could help (If yes, how?)

That sounds correct. You would be looking to write a Windows application/script that can pull stats from the internals of Windows and the UPS software.

If you had that much working then anyone else could turn that into an Nagios Plug-in. Contact the vendor of the software and ask them about there API or instructions on writing software that works with there product. Should be something like the previous link, who knows perhaps the UPS vendor would be interested in writing or has written this plug-in.
