I'm in the process of migrating our Nagios XI server from a CentOS 6 VM to a CentOS 7 VM, but we used the ova for installing the new VM, so our current server is on version 5.7.2, while the new server is on 5.8.4. I couldn't find the document for uninstalling Nagios XI anymore, what is the current best procedure on CentOS 7 do downgrade a Nagios XI installation to a previous version so that I can restore the new server from a backup of our current server?

If you're talking about de-allocating your license for that server, your Nagios account manager should be able to help you with that if you shoot them an email. I can get their contact information for you if you don't have it.
If you're talking about uninstalling the Nagios XI web administration engine and monitoring engine, the simplest route would be to reinstall the OS from scratch, or simply deploy a new VM with just the base OS installed on it.

What's the current recommendation by you guys as far as CentOS version? Should I stick with 7 or go for 8?

Hi,
Cent 8 is only supported until the end of this year, so I would recommend using Cent 7 at this time.
We also support both Debian and Ubuntu and are working on rolling out support for Cent Stream.

Ok sounds good, thank you. We'll stick with Cent since that's what all our other Nagios installs are sitting on, best to keep it consistent.

Hi,
Great, let us know if you need anything else or if it's okay to close this one out.
