Nagios XI sending alerts via email

Hi,
Sending alerts via email using SMTP protocol works fine. However, if I turn on 2fa/mfa on the email I defined in SMTP, the alerts/emails won't be sent.
The output in logs is "connection refused".
Any suggestions?
Thanks
Filip

Hi,
To resolve that, you'll want to create an application-specific password for the XI server. What email service are you using?

Benjamin

Hi Benjamin,
Can you elaborate the term application-specific password?
Also, I am using multiple email services, but in this case, let's see the scenario with the outlook email service.
Thanks,
Filip

Hi Filip,
Yes, for many mail services the application-specific password is a workaround for applications that do not support two-factor authentication.
For example, for outlook, here are the instructions to set that up.
Using app passwords with apps that don't support two-step verification
Let me know if those instructions help you get it working.
