Hi,

Interested to know, can both Nagios Core and XI accomplish the same results when it comes to monitoring?

Like for example, can I add routers/switches and vmwares to both Core and XI, add parent/child relation, send notifications, etc.?

Yes Core has the functionality that you asked about. Configuring Core is done primarily through
editing flat files.
