servicechecks table, how do I make Nagios keep all records?

Good afternoon
I want to keep the entire service-check history, so I set "max_servicechecks_age" to "0" in ndo2db.cfg and then restarted the ndo2db daemon. Despite this, it appears the "servicechecks" table is still being cleansed periodically - the number of records rises and falls with no intervention on my part.
Have I done something wrong or misinterpreted something? Is there something else I need to change in the config to get Nagios storing all service-check results?
