Is it possible to use Nagios XI with DHCP assigned address

We have been testing Nagios Xi with static IP address, but have an application where we want to use a DHCP assigned IP address for the Nagios VM. This address may not always be the same. Given that the IP address is part of the licensing process, is it possible to used a licensed version of Nagios XI with a changing IP address?

Yes you can do it, however if you want to access the web interface you will have to know what the IP is each time. Also if you set up NSClient++ checks you will need to use a subnet or change it every time your DHCP lease is up.

Thanks slansing,

I hadn't even considered the technical side - I assumed that if demo worked with DHCP then there would be no problems. I'll check into the NSClient issue you mentioned.

I was really concerned about the licensing.

Can anyone confirm that the licensing still work OK if the VM's IP address changes?

Once a license is activated with a given IP, it will allow your IP to change without complaining, however if you install on a new system with a different IP the same activation code WILL NOT work.
