Lots space used in /usr/local/nagios/var/spool/perfdata

Good Day
The /usr/local/nagios/var/spool/perfdata folder has taken up 28GB of space, and has over 100 000 files in it. I don't seem to be missing graphs, but this doesn't seem right. I have 2 installs and my second install is not using any space, 4 files in it.
What is the process to get this cleaned up? Do I just delete them? How do i know if they are imported already?
Thank you for your assistance
EDIT: Oops might missed some info:
Nagios XI 5.8.6
