recurring downtime vs exclusion schedules

Post by igae1 »

Good morning,
We wanted to know if planning recurring downtime of many services in nagiosxi greatly penalizes our server's performance. Now we have 17,972 services registered and we would have to schedule recurring downtime at different times for each 11,000 services. The other option would be to create calendars with different checking periods... but maintaining these calendars is more complicated to manage.

thank you

Hi,
Would there be any problem in scheduling recurring downtime of 15,000 services in nagiosxi at different times?
Thanks

great question. It is using cron so depending on what and how many overlapping schedules you may have for the 12,000 services, It may be resource intensive. So, I'd start with checking how optimized is your XI is currently and what is the current performance. I don't have a good answer. Just wanted to see what folks think as well. Is it possible to spin up a test on your possible changes? See what happens on your test bed?
