If you reset the admin password you should be able to log in to the gui as nagiosadmin. This has no impact on the shell login.

I'm sorry to hear that you're having trouble accessing the Nagios console even after resetting the admin password. Let's explore a few possibilities and troubleshooting steps to help you resolve the issue:

Verify the correct password: Double-check that you are using the correct password after resetting it via the command line. Ensure there are no typos or errors when entering the password.

Check Nagios configuration files: Make sure that the necessary configurations for authentication and access control are correctly set up in the Nagios configuration files. Verify that the admin user has the appropriate permissions and is not locked or disabled.

Restart Nagios service: After making any changes to the Nagios configuration files or resetting the password, restart the Nagios service to ensure that the changes take effect. Use the appropriate command for your operating system, such as systemctl restart nagios or service nagios restart.

Clear browser cache: Sometimes, cached data in your browser can cause login issues. Clear your browser cache and try accessing the Nagios console again.

Review error logs: Check the Nagios error logs for any relevant error messages or warnings that might provide insights into the login issue. The location of the error logs depends on your specific Nagios installation, so refer to your Nagios documentation or configuration files to find the appropriate log location.

Test with a different browser or device: If possible, try accessing the Nagios console from a different browser or device to rule out any browser-specific issues.

Verify network connectivity: Ensure that there are no network connectivity issues between your client machine and the Nagios server. Check if you can access other services or websites hosted on the same server to confirm the connectivity.

Seek assistance from the Nagios community: If none of the above steps resolve the issue, it might be helpful to seek assistance from the Nagios community forums or support channels. Other Nagios users and developers may have encountered similar issues and could provide specific guidance based on their experiences.

By carefully reviewing these steps, you should be able to troubleshoot and resolve the login issue with Nagios. Remember to consult the Nagios documentation and resources specific to your version and configuration for detailed instructions.

I hope this helps, and I wish you success in resolving the access issue with the Nagios console!
