The link that tgriep provided resolved this for me. In my case I had the Nagios IM component installed on the XI server. Removing this component stopped the messages being logged in /var/log/php-fpm/www-error.log (DB is not connected in /usr/local/nagiosxi/html/includes/db.inc.php on line 399).
