Upgrade path

Post by Narie »

Hi there, what would be the upgrade path, when our server is still based on the old CentOS 7 Core appliance, but NLS is version 2.1.15? Is it possible to export the configuration of the current NLS, and import it to a freshly installatie CentOS 9 Stream appliance?

Hello Narie,

While upgrading your Nagios Log Server (NLS) from an older version to a newer one involves several steps. I've provided you with a general outline of steps to take. You may also want to refer to the official Nagios documentation for "Backing Up And Restoring Nagios Log Server"

Here's a general outline of the process:
  1. Backup your current configuration: Before you start the upgrade process, it's crucial to back up your current configuration. This can be done from the NLS interface by navigating to "Admin" > "System Backups". Here, you can create a new backup which will include all your configuration data.
  2. Prepare the new server: Install CentOS 9 Stream on your new server. Make sure it meets the system requirements for NLS.
  3. Install the latest version of NLS: Download and install the latest version of NLS on your new server. You can find the latest version on the Nagios downloads page.
  4. Restore your backup on the new server: Once NLS is installed on the new server, you can restore the backup you created earlier. This can be done from the NLS interface by navigating to "Admin" > "System Backups". Here, you can upload and restore your backup file.
Note that this is a general outline and the exact steps may vary depending on your specific setup. Please refer to the official Nagios documentation
Let me know if you have any other questions or concerns.
