All, firstly i see this a failure posting on the forum, but i have spent 10 hours trying to resolve so need some help.

I cant seem to get mail notifications, for failures, warning etc. I test my mail setting at receive a mail no problem. So i must have a misconfig somewhere in the notification settings.
But have tried all possible combinations with no success, does anyone have a good baseline to start to help me diagnose where the error is?

Thanks in Advance
Dan

Bear with me if you've tried these already, lets check first things first...

1. In the Core Config Manager, go the Configuration Snapshots page and "view output," check and see if there are any error or warning messages that might point to the problem. Nagios XI will give a warning if a host isn't reading any defined contacts.

2. Are you using the Configuration Wizards to set up monitoring or using the Core Config Manager? The configuration wizards inherit settings from host and service templates. Any changes that are made for an individual host or service in the CCM will override the template setting. I would take a glance that the hosts/services that you're having problems with in the Core Config Manager and verify the "alert settings." Double check that the contacts were assigned correctly and that the "Notifications Enabled" options are selected.

If you're using a particular wizard that this is causing problems with let us know so we can verify that it's working correctly.

Nagiosadmin may not have the correct template, see previous posts as this is an old error fixed in recent releases.

What release are you running?

Are there any anti-spam or email protections? The envelope header could be anything so all mail from the Nagios server MUST be explicitly allowed.

Thanks for the advice, i have now managed to get service notifications to work, but Host notifications are failing.
Think the host alert is not calling the correct handler. I'm sure i will get to the bottom of it.

FYI i am using Nagios XI 2009R1.2C
