Monitoring Windows Updates on Windows Server

Post by fanis_imetrix »

Hi,

I am writing to inquire about the process of monitoring Windows Updates on a Windows Server system. Specifically, I am interested in setting up alerts to notify me when updates are available for installation, and if possible, to provide details regarding the specific updates that are pending.

Could you please provide guidance or resources on how to achieve this monitoring functionality?

Thanks!

fanix_imetrix,

We have some documentation available you could look at that leverages NRPE to monitor Windows for updates: https://assets.nagios.com/downloads/nag ... ios-XI.pdf

Additionally, you could check the Nagios Exchange (https://exchange.nagios.org/) to see if anyone has made a plugin for such a purpose, then download NCPA (https://www.nagios.org/ncpa/) to execute the plugin and send the check results back to Nagios XI.

Best Regards,

Cory Norell

You can try using WSUS and configure email notifications in WSUS to receive alerts when new updates are available.
