NagiosXI Centos e17 e19

Post by jdk »

Hi - I am trying to migrate a NagiosXI 5.11.1 to the latest version as part of the CentOS update.

My Nagios update option is from 5.11.1 to Nagios 2024R1.1.2. The underlying version of CentOS is e17
I deployed a new Nagios install with CentOS - just from the ISO which is CentOS e19

I performed the Nagios update on my older version, took a manual backup, copied it across to the new Nagios box on e19 and performed a restore.

I got the following message, however the restore appeared to be successfully

WARNING: you are trying to restore a el7 backup on a el9 system
Compiled plugins and other binaries as well as httpd configurations
will NOT be restored.

You will need to re-download the Nagios XI tarball, and re-install
the subcomponents for this system. More info here:
https://assets.nagios.com/downloads/nag ... ios-XI.pdf

However I get the following error

Database Error
A database connection error has been detected, please follow the repair prompt below. If the issue persists, please contact Nagios support.
Run the following from the CLI as root to attempt to repair the DB:

/usr/local/nagiosxi/scripts/repair_databases.sh

I tried the repair database option, however the system is still not available.

I tried performing the following as well

cd /tmp/
wget https://assets.nagios.com/downloads/nag ... _repair.sh
chmod +x restore_repair.sh
./restore_repair.sh

The issue still remains. Just wondering what else I can do, or have I missed a step in the process.

Both the current and new installs are with the standard Nagios ISO.

Any help appreciated as I am not a command line CentOS SME

Hi @jdk,

This is going to require some troubleshooting - I would go directly to ticket support to get resolution on this.
