Hi,

With Nagios XI 2024R1.1.x, we are monitoring a large number of hosts with many services for a customer. Many service values are displayed on dashboards, some of them with thresholds and alerts. The customer can create their own reports and graphs at will. The graphs can show averages over a time period. Now the customer wants to see the average of a service value on the dashboard and add thresholds and alerts to these averages. Is this possible?

The first screenshot is showing the absolute value of a service (RSSI) at some time, the second screenshot is a graph with an average over a time period. The average in this example (-78.34) must be visible on the dashboard connected to thresholds e.g. Critical when -80.
The second question is, can Nagios XI alert on abnormal behavior? In this example can there be an alert if the average over a long time is a certain value and the average peaks at some time, beyond the average.

To start, I feel a little confused by the screenshots compared to their descriptions. I don't know offhand of a graph that shows an averaged value for collected performance data. The links in your second screenshot will show you a standard performance graph like you see in your first screenshot.

I think it would currently take quite a bit of elbow grease for you to get what your customer is looking for. You would basically need to build custom checks and dashlets that read our existing performance data and do the necessary data analysis / threshold comparison yourself.

I do think this is a reasonable request, though, and it's fairly similar to what some other customers have asked for recently. I'll file issues for your two requests in our internal tracker

Thanks for your quick reply.
The two screenshots show basic NagiosXI screens:
the first is the service with an absolute value at a certain time and a graph icon.
Clicking on the graph icon will show the graph where you can change the time period. The average is displayed by default.

Please let me know if I am not clear in explaining the problem.

Is there any news regarding my two requests? Our customer would like to receive reports about averages and peaks in the data over a certain time. We know it is possible to make a graph for one host and send that by mail, but we have 10 servers with a larger number of hosts where we like to have the averages and peaks from.
