Offline log server invalid activation key

Hello

Just received my license key, and I'm trying to activate Nagios Log Server. I used the activation form on nagios.com/activate, put in the license key and the ip address for the server, and received the activation key.

My problem is when I go to product activation on the log server. The server ip is shown as 127.0.0.1 instead off the actual ip that I used to get the activation key. I assume this is the reason why my activation key is not valid.

"The activation key you entered is not valid. Make sure you are using the server IP address given below."

Any advice would be appreciated.

Hey @gerov, thanks for reaching out.

What happens when you go to your server's actual address? Type ip a into your terminal to find it, and visit that address in a web browser. Do you see your nagios log server instance?

Hi @ssunga, thanks for the reply.

When I visit the server's actual address in the browser it takes me to the expected nagios log server login page, if not already logged in.

If I go to Admin -> Instance Status, Instance Information it shows my actual ip, but it also shows 'localhost' as my hostname which may (or may not) be relevant.

I think I have found the reason. Our proxy configuration (not in nagios) was using 127.0.0.1. When I changed this to the servers ip address, the activation worked.

Thanks for the info! I'm glad you got that resolved.

I'm going to go ahead and lock the thread.
