NRPE agent on Nagios Core server
Setting up new servers moving away from our old CentOS VMs for Nagios Core. Also have NRPE agent installed on the VMs for monitoring THEM from another system. NRPE isn't starting/5666 isn't open. No log file is being created. Need help. I'm not as well versed in how xinet.d works.
Re: NRPE agent on Nagios Core server
As far as I know the newer versions of nrpe run as a service, not under xinetd. Configure nrpe.cfg as desired. If xinetd is installed, I think under /etc/xinet.d there should be an nrpe file. If you want to use xinetd set up the nrpe file.

Re: NRPE agent on Nagios Core server
Ensure the NRPE configuration file (/etc/nagios/nrpe.cfg) is set up correctly. Pay attention to the followinggeometry dash parameters:
allowed_hosts: Make sure the IP address of your Nagios server is included in the allowed_hosts line.
server_port: Confirm that it is set to 5666 (or whichever port you prefer).
allowed_hosts: Make sure the IP address of your Nagios server is included in the allowed_hosts line.
Code: Select all
allowed_hosts=127.0.0.1,<NAGIOS_SERVER_IP>
