We recently set up a new RHEL 9 server and ran the manual install of Nagios XI 024R1.3.2 using the documented instructions. We ran into a database issue recently and came across the following when trying to run the database repair, "Failed to start mariadb.service: Unit mariadb.service not found."
Sure enough, we are running MySQL, not Mariadb, "mysql Ver 8.0.36 for Linux on x86_64 (Source distribution)".
I assume this was installed as part of the manual installation, as I do not remember being given a choice, or do we need to look at replacing MySQL with MariaDB?
I've seen a couple other posts about new installations with MySQL, but nothing definitive if this is normal.
Thanks in advance for your responses.
New Nagios XI Installed with Mysql not Mariadb

Hi @shoreypu,
Thanks for reaching out. The installation process for current versions of XI on RHEL 9 do install MySQL.

Thanks Laura
Someone may want to look at updating https://assets.nagios.com/downloads/nag ... tabase.pdf which still says that Mariadb is used 2014 onward.
