NagiosCSP with CSP50 key, maintenance expired

Post by lpandolfini »

Hello,

I have a NagiosCSP installation for personal use with the promotion CSP50 key, everything is working, but I'm not able to update the system anymore. In the past months I was able to install updates via the GUI, now I get this error:

Code: Select all

[Upgrade Cancelled]
An upgrade is not possible because your maintenance for this license has expired.
Visit https://go.nagios.com/nagiosxi to renew your license and re-instate upgrade benefits.
Version information:

Latest Available Version: 2024R1.4.4
Installed Version: 2024R1.4.1
Last Update Check: 2025-06-11 00:06:04

The license info page says the following:

License Type: Core Services Platform
Number of Licensed Hosts: 50
Current Hosts: 16
License Usage: 32%
Maintenance Status: Perpetual
License Activation
Activation Status: Activated

The maintenance status says "perpetual", and I was able to install updates in the past. Also, the system is activated succesfully.
Can someone help me identify the problem?

Thanks
Luca

Hello @lpandolfini and @WVUhealth,

How did you try to run the upgrade? What OS are you running? I just ran upgrades from 1.4.2 to 1.4.4 both with the upgrade script and via the interface on machines with the CSP50 license without issue.

Critical Notice Regarding the CSP50 License and 2024R1.4.4:
CSP50 is no longer supported with the release of 2024R1.4.4 and thus will no longer work if you upgrade to 1.4.4. Doing this upgrade will cause your XI instance to fall back to your instance's trial license since CSP50 will no longer work. I apologize for this inconvenience, but we had no choice in the matter.

Helllo @bbahn,

I tried to run the upgrade using the GUI and I posted the error message I got at the end of the process.
I'm using the ISO version of NagiosCSP, running on a VM. The OS is CentOS Stream 9.

I was able to upgrade manually from 2024R1.4.1 to 2024R1.4.3 from the command line.

Where did you get that critical notice? It really doesn't make sense to promote a free license for personal use, then remove it after less than a year....

THanks
Luca
