Hello,

Yes, Nagios XI supports migration to a new OS version. To upgrade from Ubuntu 22.04 to 24.04, install the same version of Nagios XI on the new Ubuntu 24.04 system. Then, create a backup of your existing Nagios XI instance and restore it on the new system.

For detailed instructions, please refer to the following documentation.

https://library.nagios.com/documentatio ... nagios-xi/

Please let us know if you are having any trouble with this process.

The issue with a new server is it requires reconfiguring Postfix, any custom plugins/scripts need to be manually migrated, things like Dell OpenManage Plug-in need to be reinstalled/recomplied, etc....It is a huge mess that requires time and patience

Things that aren't natively controlled by Nagios XI do indeed need to be set up again. While I’m not deeply familiar with the OS upgrade process itself, I have a few ideas that could help. I would ensure that you save or document any major configuration files when it comes to migrating something like Postfix. For the custom plugins you should just be able to make a tarball of /usr/local/nagios/libexec and transfer that file over to the new system. Other then that I would just make sure you have a list of all the things you need to setup on the new machine in order to ensure the migration goes smoothly.

I hope everything goes well if you have any other questions I'd be happy to try and help.
