Hi All,

Assuming i just need to collect data and not to process it;
is it absolutely necessary to install the Core in order to use the plugins or part of their code ? Are the plugins actually independent of the Core ?

Thanks,
zalfia

i am not very sure on this answer but I think its not necessary to install the Core in order to use the plugins. but you should know how the plugins work exactly, what info it collects, what to do with that info..

Lets wait for others to reply... thanks...

You will ultimately need some of the plugins even for basic monitoring.
Plugins allow you to monitor hosts, devices, services, protocols, and applications with Nagios.
I would recommend installing them as the installation guide says, its better to have them and not need them, then need them and have to fiddle around installing them when you don't have them.
