2009R1.3 Config Wizards & notifications.

Hi All,
I use 2009R1.3 version for testing. My problem is that when i create a monitoring service or device using configuration wizard, the contacts for notifications remain unchecked. So if after creation i go to the Host detail - configure - re-configure this host - notification tab the contacts which i checked for notification are not actually checked. All other options are as i configured them.
I've found that this contacts are also absent in the CCM in the alerting page for host/service. But if i go to Host detail - configure - re-configure this host - notification tab and check contacts again and press update - contacts are saved in that web-form and in CCM. So i need to go to each host and service and check the contacts for the second time for notifications to work.
I think it shouldn't work this way. The checked contacts should be saved during initial wizard.

The hosts/services may be inheriting their values from a template. In the CCM, under the Common Settings->Additional Templates, check to see if the values are being inherited, if they are, they will appear blank in the host/service configuration. Changes made in the CCM will override the templates.

in my version there is no "Common Settings->Additional Templates" i have just "Templates -> host/service/contact templates".
for example xiwizard_genericnetdevice_host template is used by wizard. The template itself is empty on Check settings, Alert settings, Misc settings tab. What is inherited from it?
I still don't understand why all other settings like notification interval, retry interval, check interval are remembered by the wizard but only contacts are not?
Anyway, in every wizard there is a page where i may check the contacts, when i check something it's supposed to be checked i think.

I'm sorry i found what you've talked about. Additional template is generic-host but it's also empty on check settings, alert settings tabs. notification interval, retry interval, check interval are empty? but configured by the wizard. Only contacts are not remembered.

And how to explain this : "if i go to Host detail - configure - re-configure this host - notification tab and check contacts again and press update - contacts are saved in that web-form and in CCM."
after that contacts are checked so thi is not inheritance.
Seems like wizard doesn't save the contacts for some reason.

I'm not 100% sure how this works, but NagiosXI handles contact notifications... Not Nagios Core.
The settings live in two places and I know this is confusing, but it should be sufficient to correctly configure only one.

Yeah I think you're right mmestnik, I had forgotten about that. You should be able to configure either through the wizards and XI menus OR the CCM, depending on preference if I understand it correctly.
If there's no contact specified for a host or service, the Configuration Snapshot will issue a warning the says " 'hostname' has no default contacts defined..."
I'll do a little more investigating and see if there's a better way to verify settings when using the wizards.

As i understand Web interface just configures Nagios Core. Everything you do in wizard appears in CCM.
Yes, it should be enough to complete a wizard. But again contacts are not saved by wizard. After the completion of the wizard there are those warnings in the event log " 'hostname' has no default contacts defined..." (although i defined them in the wizard).
"go to Host/service detail - configure - re-configure this host - notification tab and check contacts again and press update" - this solves the problem.
Other settings are ok, for example i change notification interval in the wizard from 60 to 15 and it saves ok.

Nagios Core is no-longer responsible for dispatching Notifications. For example the email address in CCM "dose nothing" and I'd wager the other notification settings are also effected by this.
All notifications are routed through a command specific to NagiosXI, that has nothing to do with the legacy contact notifications in Nagios Core.
Changes to email addresses and other contact notification settings in NagiosXI are not replicated back into CCM.

But the fact is i did not receive any notifications until i configured my contact in CCM with xi_host_notification_handler and xi_service_notification_handler commands. Until that i had "notify_host/service_by_email" in the event log and actually did not receive notifications.
So, what about this issue?
"After the completion of the wizard there are those warnings in the event log " 'hostname' has no default contacts defined..." (although i defined them in the wizard)."
Do you have the same results? Can you fix it?
