Feature request / change - Bandwidth Usage Report
Posted: Fri Oct 19, 2012 7:34 am
Hello All,
I'm getting increased pressure from the suits to provide infrastructure utilization reports for our datacenters. I've upgraded to Xi2012r1 and love the bandwidth usage report except for a few small issues:
In the network switch wizard, I've chosen "Port Description" instead of "Port Number" during the SNMP walk which gives the non-network guys an idea of what function the ports have without diving into the switch itself. The Bandwidth Usage Report does not use these port descriptions....instead only displays the Port #. The only translation table between port # and description is in the switch itself (e.g. If I want to report on bandwidth utilization on our vlans between our primary and secondary datacenters, I would need to first know which ports are associated). Managers that would be pulling these reports have no access to this data.
Would it be possible to change these fields in the report from Port# to the port description as pulled from the SNMP walk? If so, the drop-down box fields would need to be widened considerably to allow both the host and enough of the description to determine what you're selecting. (see attachments for better explanation)
Thanks,
Brian
