I was able to successfully install and operate nagios 3.1, however, I am unable to view any data for nagiosgraph.
I get error : No data in rrd directory /var/nagios/rrd. Also, I get this error in nagios.log :

Warning : File '/var/nagios/perfdata.log' could not be opened - service performance data will not be written to file!
Warning : Service performance file processing command 'process-service-perfdata-for-nagiosgraph' was not found - service performance data file will not be processed!

Even manually running the insert.pl doesn't work.

Please help.

Same problem here.
At the same time rrd-tool serves local installation of munin without any problem.
nagiosgraph / nagios / system logs show no additional errors, even when set to debug level.
Kindly assist, additional data is available on request (not sure what to provide in advance).

Check permissions on the /var/nagios/perfdata.log. Also could you post a copy of your nagios.cfg and commands.cfg in a code wrap? The error: Service performance file processing command 'process-service-perfdata-for-nagiosgraph implies that you are missing a perfdata processing command or two.
