Good Morning..

I am running NagiosĀ® Coreā„¢ 3.2.3 w/approximately 65 hosts.

I have a windows server 2008 R2 x64 server running NSclient++ 0.4.1.7 (currently)

I have tried MULTIPLE versions of nsclient..

this is the first server 2008 box installed using nagios..

any assistance would be great. I have the firewall turned OFF completely on the server as well as have tried turning firewall off on client

please let me know what else you may need

Thanks

Turning the firewall completely off on Win 2k8 machines can open its own can of worms. I would highly suggest going into the firewall and allowing the nsclient exe access, as well as 5666, and 12489, for all incoming ports regarding nsclient. Per past issues, I would also suggest switching to the stable .3.x version. Let's start with those two changes and see how it works!

I opened the firewall up just as a test hoping to narrow the issue down to the firewall... no luck

I would like to have all clients running before upgrading.

I also installed nagios on a windows 7 machine, and receiving the same errors.. It seems that 2008 and win 7 (newer OS) I am missing something?

Any other suggestions would be welcomed

Thanks

Brian

Can you send us a copy of your nsc.ini file in the NSClient++ main directory?

the host this file came off of is: 10.1.1.176 (backupsrvr001)

Nagios server is 10.1.1.249

when client firewall is off, w/in the nagios server console I get "connection refused"
WHen I turn the client firewall on, it changes to CRITICAL - Socket timeout after 10 seconds

I am able to monitor PING and RDP, but CPU, DiskSpaceC and Memusage are comming back w/the errors

Good Morning.

If anyone needs any additional information, please, do not hesitate to ask.

This is one of those issues that I have been dealing with, and I am sure the solution is simpler than what I am making it.

Thanks Again

Brian

Can you send us your nrpe.cfg file on the nagios side?
