Problems with 2012R1.3.

Deleted my last thread, a lot of irritation in there.
Here are the issues I am running into:
Notifications are not being sent (Do I ise the xi_linuxserver templates or change everything to generic? The wizard uses xi_ so...?)
Linuxserver wizard uses xi_ templates, which don't seem to fully work (xi timeperiods for example, I edit and save validate starts failing - edited because notifications are not being sent)
Deleted hosts/services delete from CCM, but are still present in the database and flat files (Tried to start from scratch)
restore_defaults.sh doesn't log in successfully, despite default passwords. (Tried this after the host/services were ghosted)
This a new install. I have run into these issues with previous releases on a new install, the fixes I applied then don't seem to work this time.
Please assist.

after running into more then a few issues and unable to reverse, I was able to reinstall nagiosxi. I am avoiding the wizards right now and working on notifications, which work under the notify service by email. If I add in the xi_service_handler, nothing really seems to happen. Though I know the out in the email is very different. To use the xi handlers, do I have to use the linux wizard to add the host?

No, the host can be added, and services setup, through the ccm. Just make sure to specify the handler you want to use for the service/host. Is this an atypical setup? What were some of the issues you experienced during install? It may help us shed some light on your current issues.

This is not a typical setup. We have as custom kickstart we use with new production severs that implement our setup and security measures for the server. The install scripts do not work out the box, each time we need to manually add packages and adjust the httpd conf so the script will complete.
The biggest problem is with the linuxserver wizard, notifications do not work. That wizard uses the xi_ templates and as an example, trhe xi_timeperiod doesn't appear configured, there are no days and times set. If you adjust it, you fubar the config and validation starts failing.
Is there a set of steps I can follow for exactly how you recommend we use the wizard? Are we not supposed to every modify any xi_ template across the system?

Have you tried to setup notifications without using the linux wizard? (setup hosts/services/notifications through the ccm)?

Yes and they work if I avoid using anything xi_ template based. I do like the xi_ notifications. How can I get those working, something needs adjust since they don't work from the start.

I would suggest not modifying the default templates, instead, copy the default templates and work with those. You will need to drill down the issue in the templates for your unique setup by reducing the options in the copy until things start working. If you edit the templates until you get a verify to complete, then you should have a good idea of what is failing. You could also post the error log from verify in this thread and we can help you drill it down.

Did you set your monitoring contacts as users or contacts only? Users and contacts in Nagios XI are similar but not the same. Please, review our documentation on the topic here:

Also, you might want to take a look at our basic steps for troubleshooting notifications on our wiki page:
