error adding machine with Linux server Wizards

Hello Guys,
am trying to add mine nagios server with the Linux server wizards to nagios xi to monitor itś Memory usage etc...after adding the Host i get the error

Hello there!

I'm assuming it's already set because you can communicate but make sure that your remote server has it's NRPE.cfg file set to allow your Nagios XI box to communicate:

allowed_hosts=nagios.xi.ip
Also, do you have the correct permissions set on the remote server's plugin? And is it compiled for SSL and enabled by chance?

Have done by default by running the "fullinstall" file so i think it get complied with SSL support rite?

By default I do not believe so, you should have to pass it a flag to enable SSL, which in this case is good because that is another layer.

Do you have the correct ports open on the remote system? 5666, and SELINUX disabled? Are you using Xinetd or a deamonized version?

If you are using xinetd be sure to to edit the allowed hosts section here:

Check selinux with this command:

If you are using xinetd, you need to open the nrpe file on the client machine:

vi /etc/xinetd.d/nrpe
and add the XI server's IP on the "only_from" line, for example:

only_from       = 127.0.0.1 192.168.x.x
Note: The IPs are space separated, not coma separated.

Then you need to restart xinetd:

service xinetd restart
Try telneting to port 5666 from your Nagios XI server:

Code: Select all

telnet <Client_IP> 5666
