Renaming interface removes perf data

Hi Guys,

I ran the network / switch wizard against my core switch and it worked perfectly, however I've not named all my interfaces on the switch and so need now to rename them within XI.

I have a particular port and when I rename it's 'Description' inside the new CCM I lose all historic perf data. Rename it back and it all comes back.

What can I do to resolve this please?

I'm running 2012 r1.4

Thanks,

Nick

If you go to Configure -> CCM -> Tools -> Renaming Tool there is a tool that can rename hosts/services and keep their performance data.

Enterprise only?

I assume this can be done via CLI?

Yes this is an Enterprise feature. If you haven't used your fully functional 60 day trial you could turn it on and make the changes.

Otherwise, yes you can do this via the CLI.

The performance graphs live as
/usr/local/nagios/share/perfdata/<HOSTNAME>/<SERVICENAME>.rrd
/usr/local/nagios/share/perfdata/<HOSTNAME>/<SERVICENAME>.xml

Simply move/rename them appropriately and the perfdata will go to the newly names host/service
