I have a distributed environment using gearman and also an offloaded database. Will I have any issues installing NSTI? I also believe there was a 2nd version under development, if that is close to being ready, I'd rather wait to install I think.

NScott is working on another version, but no current release date has been set so waiting might not be the best option if you desire the features soon™. I would suggest you test before deploying in production as always.
