Hello,
I created some Recurring Downtime all my Host groups. I set it for once a Month Friday when we do our Monthly Maintenance.
Valid Weekdays: Friday
Valid Days of Month: 18,15,15,12,10,14,12,09,13,11,08,13
For some reeason last Friday 02/22/2013 We all got a email notification DOWNTIMESTART.

if under your account you have S selected, you will receive alerts when downtime starts. easiest fix would be for the users to uncheck the S in their notification options.

Did you receive downtime notifications for each host/hostgroup or just one? What version of XI are you running?

I think the issue is that the 22nd was not one of the specified days for downtime.

See, that's what I get for trying to help, I guess I didn't fully comprehend his issue. I have now read it a couple more times and understand. I have no input now, as I can't think why it would do that, lol.

The way he has that recurring downtime setup would cause issues anyway, wouldn't it? Because there is no "Every 2nd Friday" option or something like that, he would be better off doing individual downtimes, right? With the way he has that setup for example, the month of March would actually have two Fridays fit the criteria, the 8th and 15th. Since he said they do it once/month, that would mean one of those days his items would be in downtime when they really shouldn't be and if something happened during the false downtime he would receive no alerts.
Right?

Yeah, I noticed that too (only because St. Patrick's Day is the 17th). It does not solve his issue, but should be pointed out to dodge a future support request in mid- March.

Do you experience this with all hosts that you scheduled downtime for, or just a select few?

BanditBBS, thanks for bring it up regarding the (March would actually have two Fridays fit the criteria, the 8th and 15th). What can I do to get around this ?

Unfortunately, the only fix I can think of is creating a downtime for each month and not use recurring. If the recurring had options like, "Every 2nd" or "Every 3rd" or whatever, then recurring would work. Since it doesn't have that option I can't think of a way to use recurring the way you want to.
Maybe the Nagios guys can think of something I am overlooking?
